Satisfactory results for visitors looking for strong and creative products

The Première Vision and Expofil shows, held last 14 to 16 February at the Parc d’Expositions of Paris-Nord Villepinte, demonstrated their vitality and powerful global appeal at a time when economic concerns and uncertainty are more than ever present in Europe.

In three days, the two shows registered 43,278 visits, 73% from international visitors who came to Paris to discover the offer presented by the 713 exhibitors (11 more than February 2011).

And despite the pessimism prevalent in Europe and the slowdown in economic activity, seen particularly in the decline of the Italian (-12%), Belgian (-14%) contingents, there were 32,710 industry professionals from the European Union assured of finding the most complete and inspiring textile offer.

Première Vision / Expofil defy economic gloom

"It’s a great show" - Alison Mansell/Amanda Marshall
Indeed it was an excellent edition for exhibitors and buyers at Première Vision and Expofil. In the days prior to the shows' opening, indicators were already pointing in a positive direction: numbers of exhibitors had returned to 2008/09 pre-crisis figures (714 for Première Vision, 43 for Expofil), and pre-registration had again increased. But in light of current economic concerns and a business slowdown in many sectors, the outcome was not a foregone conclusion.

Yet the excitement perceived from the first day of the show, stands that were busy till late at night, the discussions in the aisles and around the fabrics on display in the fashion areas, a notable atmosphere of hard work, concentration and intense discussion all already augured good results. Results confirmed by the figures: with 46,222 visits, Première Vision and Expofil registered a 10% increase over the comparable year-ago session (September 2010). There was also a 2.4% increase compared with the previous edition of February 2011.
